Microsoft Word has been Hacked, Do Not Open Documents with ‘.RTF’ file extension

Microsoft Corp. issued an emergency security warning stating that hackers have found a way to access on certain common Word files with the .rtf extension.

Microsoft is now aware of the attack and the are now fixing the said security issue, but as of now there is still not fix for this security hole. Microsoft recommend, do not open .rtf file from your emails.

This is the worst kind of attack. A hacker who manages to get you to open a booby-trapped file can gain control of your computer. From there, the hacker can do all kinds of things. For instance, the hacker can turn your computer into a so-called zombie by putting it on an illegal botnet. That means hackers can use your computer as part of a bigger network of computers to do all kinds of illegal things — like send spam, spread viruses, and commit fraud.

Microsoft recommend blocking of all the .rtf file from your computer, they released a tool that will automate and do that thing for you in case you don’t know how to.
