Cherry Mobile Android One G1 Dual LTE Device Impressions

August 10, Cherry Mobile launched the next iteration of their recent Android One Google certified device. This time they made it a Dual LTE/4G capable device with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of Internal storage which from the previous generation is just 1GB of RAM and 8GB Internal Storage. Not only the RAM and storage but also the processor which now uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 64bit 1.2GHz Quad Core Processor.

They also made the device larger that now give a better viewing display, having a 5-inches display with Asahi Dragon Trail Glass. Overall it’s a huge improvement from the previous Cherry Mobile Android One.

Now here is our Unboxing video and Initial Review and thoughts about the new Pure Android Stock Lollipop experience device.

Since Cherry Mobile implemented the Asahi Glass they managed to trim down the price for just only Php5,999 which is half the price of the Internation version.

Checking out the build and design, The front is equipped with a 5-megapixel front camera with the earpiece on the center and LED Notification light in the left most part. The glass is again a 5-inch IPS HD 720 x 1280 display which we can say has a fairly decent viewing angle and does come up with a vivid and bright display.

While the capacitive buttons are not present you will see the bottom part has a large plain space since they implemented an on-screen menu.

Running on Android Lollipop 5.1.1 pure stock android experience with the help of Google, so expect updates coming once Android released a new version. Google will provide updates support for 2 years like most of any Android One devices.

Moving to the back it come with a 13-megapixel rear camera with BSI technology and a Dual LED flash plus a whopping 2,500mAh removable battery. It’s lightweight comparing to Flare x but smaller in terms of size. the device uses a 2 Micro SIM slot which thankfully compatible with both Globe and Smart LTE, it’s also expandable up to 32GB via Micro SD.

The bottom part has the Micro-USB port for charging and data transfer and also the speaker grill which so far we can say for the initial impression the audio quality is distorted on a max volume. Even it’s position at the bottom part it still sounds muffled.

The right side has all the buttons functionality, Volume rocker, and power button. Meanwhile, on the left side is just plain. the top part have the 3.5mm jack. The build is a pure plastic with a 2 strips of silver lining surrounding the body which personally not a fan of the design I still prefer the simplicity of the Flare X 🙂

Antutu Benchmark score is around 22,000+ fairly average for a Quad Core device. We tested some few casual games like Leo’s fortune and Angry birds 2 so far the game play’s well with just some few minor drop frames.

The main advantage of this device is the Pure Stock Android experience the UI is responsive fluid and smooth. Having the LTE capability with a stock android experience for the price of Php5,999 is a big plus. Although the design is not very appealing but on papers the device is pretty competitive.

That’s it for now for the Initial review of the device stay tuned for the full review in the upcoming weeks.
