Starmobile Knight Vision (DTV) Unboxing and Initial Impression

I think the last Smartphone that has a television feature that I have unbox and reviewed is the Cherry Mobile Titan TV and to be honest that is one huge Phablet smartphone but it was still the dawn of analog signal. Fast forward we now have the Digital TV signal available here in the Philippines and different local channel are embracing this technology. But not only local television provider are capable of implementing this technology but also local brands manufacturers like Starmobile.

What we are taking a look today is the First DTV / Digital Television Smartphone by Starmobile and its the Knight Vision. it’s a Phablet Digital TV capable smartphone with a 1.3GHz Quad Core processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of Internal Storage which is I think is the average specs this year.

    Packaging

To get started Starmobile totally puts a huge effort in terms of packaging I give them a two thumbs up for putting a unique and collector’s item feel on their packaging. Likewise with the Starmobile Knight vision it comes with a Plain white box with a reflective VISION text showing in the front of the box plus the Starmobile Knight vision logo.

it’s a pullout box which also at the back will show the Specification and the look of the device.

Inside the box it comes with a 2 Screen protector with glass cleaner, 3.5mm earphone , Flat Mico-USB to USB cable and charger, Warranty card, User guide, 2,450mAh Li-Ion Battery, Transparent back casing and the Stamobile Knight Vision itself.

Pulling out the handle unveils the black base inside the box and popping it out show two boxes that has the items mentioned above. very organize and kudos to Starmobile for that! 🙂

    Build and Design

Looking in front, located the upper part is the proximity light sensor and a LED Notification on top of it , earpiece and the 8-megapixel with Auto focus but doesn’t have a flash. The screen is a 5.5-inch IPS Display with 5 Multi touch capacitive screen. Having a resolution of 720 x 1280 and a 267PPI.

Unfortunately it doesn’t have any capacitive buttons which makes the lower part a large plain section since the buttons is in-display the Menu, Home and Back buttons. Also the bezel is quite thick since it still has a black gap when you turn on the device but it’s almost flat in the panel with just a slight shift of color in the lower right angle but still has a great viewing angle since it’s an IPS display.

At the top is the , Anthena , Micro USB port and the 3.5mm Jack. the body is lightweight silver metal painted plastic with a Chamfered edge.

While at the right side is the right side is the Chrome finish Volume rocker and power button which is very tactile when pressing.

Moving to the back is the 13-megapixel Rear camera with Dual LED Flash F/2.0 plus having a Optical Image stabilization (OIS) feature. while the center has the Starmobile logo and the speaker grill at the lower bottom left part. the back cover is a glittery glossy type plastic material.

Opening the back cover reveals the Micro SD slot and the combination of Micro + Regular SIM slot with Dual 3G Standby.

I’m glad they included a Transparent back cover which really looks sexy when putting into the Knight vision.

Here is the actual look when you put it 😀 Totally fits the device.

    Initial Impression

The Starmobile Knight Vision is the Vanilla stock Android feel with just a very huge icons. even having a HD display. the Main feature of the phone is the Digital TV and checking it out I was totally blown away with the quality of the output the clarity is very crisp and clear. it’s like watching a DVD copy movie totally way much better than the traditional analog TV signal.

In my location GMA 7 was very clean as always even on the analog signal but ABS-CBN was the worst quality of them all when it comes to analog signal in my location. But upon scanning in the DTV app it was very clear no static output but there are some artifacts showing once in a while but the signal is as high as 4 Bars which is very impressive.

There are other channels detected but some of them needs to be subscribe to the ABS-CBN plus TV which is another service. The test was made in my unboxing table which is an indoor, here are some of the quick snapshot of the Tv output.

The app itself comes with a built -in recorder so if want to record the streaming using the phone yes! its possible just click the Red button and you’re good to go.

In the app it also have the EPG which is the program guide on what’s the next upcoming show. and in the settings there is a reset for all of that plus the parental control.

The camera is pretty much ok for it’s output but will still check it in the upcoming days. since this is a MT6582 SoC I can say this will have an above average performance in terms of gaming. Initial Benchmark for the Antutu it scored 18,000 which is not bad for a quad core device.

So there you go guys that is the Starmobile Knight Vision available now for Php9,990. if you’re a type of person who always want to watch television while on the go well this is a great choice so be sure to stay tune on my full review. and leave a comment down below on what do you think about the Starmobile Knigh Vision.,
