Starmobile Knight Spectra Hands-On and Impression

Today we got an exclusive first look at Starmobile’s newest flagship smartphone the Knight Spectra. First in the local brand to have a Dual Camera setup, boasting a 13-megapixel plus a 2-megapixel rear camera. At first glanced camera seems to be the same but if you take a closer look at the sensors the 13-megapixel is larger on the right while the 2-megapixel is smaller, the smaller sensor reads the depth and information of the shot to make it accurate and fix the distortion. In this way, users can change the focus of the photo after taking a shot which is another feature of the camera.

The phone’s build is quite similar with the iPhone unibody which is great a sturdy rounded and chamfered at the edges. On the top we will see the 3.5mm jack while on the right side is the volume rocker plus the power button that also act as a notification led light that glows on the edges of the button. Looking at the left side is SIM tray that has Dual SIM feature with LTE capability and while the other SIM slot also acts as Micro SD slot. Interestingly they made the front and back a glass material with scratch-resistant protection. While at the bottom we can see the Speaker Grills.

The Knight Spectra uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa-Core processor paired with Adreno 405 GPU, also with 3GB of RAM and a 32GB of internal storage. While the battery is packed with a 3500mAh fairly huge and for sure will keep the phone running almost the whole day.

In terms of the performance, it’s responsive and smooth although it uses an Android Lollipop 5.1 but had a skin on top of it that is very noticeable with the settings menu which uses a TAB like setup. Also, the front panel is a 5.5-inch Full HD, On-cell AMOLED display with thin bezels and uses an 8-megapixel front camera.

Antutu Benchmark score is fairly enough for it’s specs but will still test it out on how it performs using high graphical intensive games.

Overall the device is premium inside and out, solid build and elegant, Camera is snappy and the added dual camera feature gives value to it. Starmobile Knight Spectra will have a suggested retail price of ₱14,990.
