    Unibody stylish design

Cherry Mobile announced the new Flash a budget smartphone with the 16-megapixel rear camera plus a fingerprint sensor. Before I gave you a glimpse of the camera let’s first take a look at the build and design.

The frame is made up of a plastic unibody with a stick design texture. Non-removable back cover and weighs 143g lighter than the recent Huawei GR5 that I also reviewed. Back has 16-megapixel shooter with single led flash position in the upper top left corner and beside is a noise cancellation pin hole , then the fingerprint sensor that has a white texture and silver ring design. Flash logo in the center and Cherry Mobile logo below plus the speaker grill.

The right side is the placement of the volume rocker and below it is the power button, nice positioning of the button for ergonomics and easy access when using with one hand.

While the other side has a single sim tray that needs a sim ejector to open, but don’t worry its included in the box. Unfortunately, SIM tray has only two slots, the first one is for the MicroSD and MicroSIM 1 while the other slot is for the 2nd Micro SIM. Inserting a MicroSD means you only can use 1 SIM unless you want to sacrifice the expansion slot to use both SIM card slot.

Up above is the 3.5mm jack , great news its CTIA compliant port, using in-ear headphones with a microphone will surely work.

And beneath is the Micro USB port and another noise cancellation pinhole mic. Similar with the Huawei GR5 it has a chamfered silver lining which I think will fade as time goes by.

Flipping the phone in front we see the light proximity sensor and a small LED light beside it. Then the earpiece plus an 8-megapixel front camera with also an auto focus feature.

Like any budget smartphone the Cherry Mobile Flash has also a black border bezel and in fact, the left and right borders are thicker than the upper and lower chin. Also, it has capacitive buttons that don’t have a backlit but rather a reflective sticker and a red circular lining for the home button.

Overall the build is nice and sleek with rounded edge and corners but again I’m not a fan of the silver lining chamfered display. But for the build, I can say its the typical cherry feel.

Vanilla Stock Android with additional built in apps

The Flash has a Marshmallow 6.0 Android with a Vanilla Mediatek UI, smooth and responsive but Cherry still included some pre-built apps like Cherry Prepaid, Cherry Movie Club, Xender, Skype, Cherry Fun Club, Bonus Load and Cherry Play. These apps can be disabled but you can’t uninstall it.

But the great thing the adaptive storage is present since it’s running on a marshmallow, also it comes with a MiraVision feature. Since this is just the Initial impression/ review here are some of the other details available.

    • No Gyroscope available only Accelerometer, Proximity, Light, Orientation and Magnetometer
    • No OTG Capability only Adaptive Storage
    • 5 Multi-Touch
    • No Front Flash
    • Not fast charging
    • SRP is Php5,999

We will still dig into the feature and other related stuff but for now here, is the initial photos taken for both rear and front in an indoor good lighting condition.
