Things you need to know about the Cherry Mobile Flare X Lite

A couple of days ago a leaked photo of a smaller brother of Cherry Mobile Flare X has surfaced the web and named as Flare X Lite.

Today we go hands-on and see what are the things you need to know about the Cherry Mobile Flare X Lite.

Is it worth it? is it a huge upgrade for a lighter and cheaper price compared to it’s predecessor well that’s what you’re going to find out.

    Box Packaging

Like the old Flare X series, it comes with a box sleeve and that X mark with just an additional ‘LITE’ word added to it. Basically, the box is the same with the recent Flare X series, seeing the specs at the back of the sleeves.

    What’s Inside

Included inside the box are more minimal this time.

    • 1x Cherry Mobile Flare X Lite Unit
    • 1x USB to Micro USB charging cable
    • 1x Travel Charger (Output 1,000mA — Input 0.2A)
    • 1x Earphone with Mic button
    • 1x User Manual

Interesting though is the battery of the unit is non-removable so you can see that only the back cover is removable.

Earphone included has a mic button.

    What is the Weight?

Surprisingly, the device only weighs 120g which really light and comfortable to hold in one hand.

    Build and Design

Like what I’ve said it’s lighter and very comfortable holding even in one hand, thanks to it’s lighter plastic body.

The design is pretty much generic like the previous Flare X but this time, they added some silver border lines on top and bottom which are noticeable at the edges of the body.

The front has the sensor, LED light with multi colors, ear piece, and 8-megapixel front camera, unfortunately, no front Flash for selfie lovers.

The bottom part has the 3 capacitive buttons, menu, home and back button. No backlit this time.

Checking the back part we can see the huge no bump 16-megapixel rear camera with single led flash, Flare logo in the center and Cherry Mobile below it and the speaker grills in the lower left corner.

    How about the sides?

Cherry Mobile moved the USB port and earphone on top of the device while the volume rocker and power button are still on the right side. While the left side is plane and below only has the pinhole mic for noise cancellation.

    Closer look inside

To make it lighter they made the battery built-in (2,000mAh) and occupying only the 1/4 are of the back.

SIM Card 1 and 2 are on the left side while the Micro SD card is on the right side.

Look Ma NO BLACK BORDER BEZEL

Yup! you’re seeing right, NO BLACK BORDER BEZEL! hallelujah! isn’t it. Thankfully, not only the device is lighter smaller but also having a small bezel is a huge improvement. It makes the device gorgeous with that thin bezels.

Even the viewing angle is great with its IPS display and upon checking the refresh rate well its 71hz boom!

    Let’s compare it

On the left side is the OPPO F` and the Flare X lite on the right you can see that the OPPO F1 has a slight black border bezel which is still noticeable but for the Flare X lite its very thin that barely noticeable.

    Things you need to know

They called it light but the price is too good for its feature why? well, let me run it down.

    • It has 10 Multi-Touch
    • Pokemon GO is smooth but still no gyroscope.
    • Sensors available (Accelerometer, Light, Proximity and Magnetic)
    • LED Light Notification
    • Both cameras have auto focus
    • Smooth and responsive 60fps UI
    • With Miravision but no Clear motion but comes with Smart Wake feature
    • 700Mhz Ready (LTE Band available : B1 / B3 / B5 /B7 / B20)
    • NBA 2k16 is not playable even on the lowest settings
    • Pokemon Go can reach 30fps but only has an average of 25fps
    • It’s using the MediaTek MT6573 Octa Core processor.
    • with Marshmallow 6.0 out of the box
    • OTG Capable also
    • Bug with App info can’t access app permission

    Verdict

Is the Cherry Mobile Flare X lite the new Flare X series, King? well, the large 3GB RAM is really a good addition it helps in multi-tasking plus the 16GB storage is a big plus then combine it with an adaptive feature to add more storage once you inserted the Micro SD card.

For its price of Php4,999 I can say I love the lightweight form factor no protruding camera and btw it has a decent camera also which you will see down below some of the samples.
