Ekotek Ekophone Rogue 3 First Intel Sofia powered Smartphone in PH

Ekotek is a new player in town that caters accessories and any gadget related products. In our recent meeting they showcase their newest lineup of tablets and smartphone, one of the new entry-level devices that they launched is the Ekotek Ekophone Rogue 3 and as of writing this post it’s also one of the first Intel Sofia powered smartphone devices in the Philippines.

As you may all know so far Intel is known for a mid range level segment but recently they announced their new Intel Sofia SoC which is intended for entry-level devices.

Ekophone Rogue 3 is one of the first to embrace this processor, and today we are taking a closer look at this device.

the Ekophone Roque 3 is a 4-inch device with 5 point multi touch, surprisingly Roque 3 is just one of the few devices in this category that have this feature which for us a big thumbs up for an entry-level device.

Powered by a 1GHz Intel Sofia Atom X3 Dual Core processor with 512MB of RAM, before you comment on that processor remember this is targeted to users who just want to get started using a smartphone.

Moving on to the Internal storage it’s packed with a 4GB of ROM that is expandable up to 64GB via Micro SD slot, that also comes with a 2-megapixel Rear and a VGA front camera.

Again nothing too fancy with this device but it still has a Wi-Fi , 3G and a Dual SIM capability that is both using a regular SIM slot.

the battery is only 1,350mAh , not surprising for a price tag of only 2,899 Pesos.

What’s great about this device is it’s running on a stock android experience no bloatwares and the UI is very responsive although don’t expect the camera to be fancy but again it can do the job.

In front is the 3 capacitive buttons the back, Home and recent apps with a silver circular chrome design at the bottom. Power button is on the left side while the volume rocker is on the right side. At the top is the 3.5mm Jack and the Micro USB port for charging and data transfer.

Looking at the back is the single LED Flash with the speaker grill beside the rear camera. the back coating is a glossy finish, very prone to finger smudge.

As of now this device is running on Android KitKat 4.4 and will be available on October at all Ekotek Kiosk Nationwide 🙂

If you’re just starting to use an Android smartphone the Ekotek Ekophone Rogue 3 is a great starting point for you to get familiar with this environment if you came from the ancient featured phone 🙂

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
