Cherry Mobile Cubix Cube 2 Impression
We got a chance to have an early sneak peek at the newest device from Cherry Mobile the new Cubix Cube 2. This device is the upgraded version of the Cubix Cube that was recently launched earlier this year. Basically it’s better Inside and out, starting from a larger display which now has a 5.7-inch Full HD OGS IPS Display that looks way better than the older version. viewing angle is great, bright and vivid plus they added a Corning Gorilla Glass protection.
The form factor and build had also been upgraded from the previous, pure plastic build which now has a metal side frame combined with plastic in front and back with a curve top and bottom. Located in front is the 8-megapixel camera with BSI sensor and the three capacitive buttons at the bottom that have a backlit which is a great thing. Also, the bezel is quite thin and not having a black border which is a thumb up for us.
While located at the back is the 13-megapixel Panasonic sensor camera that also comes with BSI sensor then the Cubix logo in the center and the speaker grill on the lower right corner. But what’s interesting with this device is the two small copper pin at the back yes! that is intended and not a mistake and basically it’s a feature for the Wireless Charger. BUT sad to say Lazada which will be the primary vendor for this device will not carrying nor make it available for consumers, which we don’t know why since it’s a feature of the phone but let us see in the upcoming weeks if they might change their mind which we hope to happen.
Like what I said a while ago the side is a metal frame build and all of the buttons are located on the right side starting from the Volume Rocker on the top, next is the power button then the two SIM card slots and the Micro USB port. while on the other side is just the 3.5mm Jack which is actually hidden covering with the metal cap.
Specs wise the device uses the somewhat old MT6592 but paired with a 2GB of RAM and a 16GB of Internal Storage, unfortunately, this device is non-expandable so it’s fixed to 16GB and also a non-removable battery but thankfully has a huge 3500mAh capacity and thus have a feature like OTG and NFC that is very surprising for having a retail price of only Php4,999.
It’s running on an Android KitKat 4.4 that we think might have the least possibility for having an upgrade to Android Lollipop since it uses an Old MediaTek SoC. But in terms of size it might not fit for everyone but we can say the weight is way better than the previous model since the Cubix Cube really looks cheap and lightweight base on our experience. But with that said, UI is and responsiveness is smooth base on our initial impression. The Cubix Cube 2 will be available exclusively at Lazada on November 11 November 6–12 Noon so be sure to stay tuned on that because for sure this device will be a hot selling device once it becomes available on that day.
